The youth staff intern is responsible for providing safe, fun-filled and age appropriate activities for all children onboard. The Youth Staff intern will report directly to the Youth Director and Assistant Youth Director onboard.

The youth staff intern’s job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following activities:
  • Ensuring a friendly, jovial and positive attitude with children and parents at all times.
  • Ensuring the safety and supervision of all children participating in activities.
  • Ensure the playroom is cleaned & organized as per standards established at the end of each shift.
  • Keep a high level of hygiene for the children by consistently tending to their needs. (Example: Diapering, washing hands, wiping noses, etc.)
  • All new Camp Carnival Staff must successfully complete a Training Program conducted by the Assistant Youth Director / Youth Director.
  • Contribute new ideas and suggestions to enhance the Youth Program; be a team player and display initiative.
  • Be knowledgeable of the other areas of the Youth Programming (ex. Club O2 and Circle “C”)
  • Demonstrate commitment to Carnival Service Values.
  • Actively participate in assigned activities including, but not limited to trainings, drills, safety briefings, “Port Manning”, meetings, and performances, as required.
  • Follow and implement the policies and procedures set forth in the Hotel Operations Manual and maintain an up to date knowledge of the manual.
  • Must be willing to perform CPR and First Aid as needed.
  • Abiding by rules and regulations set forth by company and/or ship’s command.
  • Possess an enthusiastic attitude and approach.
  • Applicable experience working with youth/kids in camps, child centers, after school programs, resorts, etc., is preferred.
  • The ability to interact effectively and make connections with youth of different age groups.
  • The ability to cross-promote activities and events.
  • Effectively communicate with others and work in a team or independently.
  • Demonstrate a clean and professional appearance.
  • Fluent proficiency in English.
  • Be open to flexible working hours.
  • Be able to adapt to the immediate or unforeseen challenges in the industry.
  • Be able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Paid internship, fixed monthly salary, paid bi-weekly.
  • Room and board included at no additional cost to the student.
  • All travel expenses from and to your nearest major airport are covered by Carnival Cruise Line (CCL.)
  • Cost of the Seafarer's Fitness Medical Examination (SFME) and background screening will be reimbursed by CCL.
  • Professional and personal development opportunities offered through the crew training center on ship.
  • Be currently enrolled and attending an accredited college/university
  • Have a minimum cumulative 3.0 cumulative GPA out of a 4.0 scale
  • Be at least a second semester junior returning to school or a graduating senior earning academic credit
  • Previous experience working with large groups of children, preferably in a camp or activity setting within the past two years
  • Be at least 21 years of age or older by the start of the internship program
  • Be able to obtain a valid USA passport by the internship offer date
  • Pass all of Carnival Cruise Line’s pre-employment background and medical requirements
Round I:
  • Resume outlining previous employment, education and youth related experience in PDF or Word Doc format.
  • Promotional photo.
Round II:
  • Academic transcript (either an official or unofficial version)
  • Two letters of recommendation (PDF or Word Doc format):
    • Faculty reference; must be within your field of study.
    • Supervisor reference; past or present for a position of relative experience.
After Acceptance
  • CPR and First Aid Certificate
  • Cleared Fingerprint Background Check
  • Valid US Passport
